What version of Evolution are you using?  The latest is 1.0.5, and it
does solve a lot of problems.  I was going to list them all, but since
they are not the same as yours, I won't torture you with them.  I use
SuSE 8.0 and KDE (sorry, don't really like Gnome).

What with all of that, I hope that helps a bit.  You know, I really
_want_ Evolution to work.  It's just not quite there yet, but then -
what is the alternative?
