i'd also reccomend the Buffalo AirStation and wifi cards - as the cards 
are re-badged Lucent Orinoco's they are easily detected and configured 
under GNU/Linux (i can only speak for Mandrake but mdk8.2 does brill 
with them :-)... they also were the cheapest on the market when i was 
looking around for mine (a couple of months ago)...

have i already reccomended www.consume.net? its a great resource for 
802.11b stuff - a UK group setting up wifi access points around the 
country... aiming for a community network. there's lots of info on there 
and links for places to order stuff - most of which are based in the US 
i believe...
