	Visit http://www.sunfreeware.com/ to get GNU tools for Solaris.  
Pick you CPU/Solaris version, and off you go.  They have binary packages 
(like RPMs, I guess) and source code.  I'm not sure if the binaries are 
installable by < root (though there are directions on the site somewhere), 
but you should at least be able to compile it yourself and install into 
your bin directory or something.
