[techtalk] router/switch question

Quick and dirty test:

On one of the machines that it supposed to be idle, run tcpdump.

If you can see traffic from the 'live' machines (ie the ones doing the
talking) then maybe you've got a hub rather than a switch.

Otherwise I'd hazard a guess it's broadcast stuff just getting bounced
around a lot.

Does the switch/hub have any configuration options?
