[Techtalk] 2nd networking question

This is linked to my previous network question.

under ifconfig for eth0 the MTU is 1500. I'm on kernel 2.4.18-3 BTW.

If I use :

ping -s 1500 123.23.45.56

(this creates a packet of 1500 bytes) it doesn't work. So ... is this
because of the MTU setting or is this because of something set on the
recieving machine?
