OpenOffice has been packaged for Debian, but it has not yet been uploaded to
the main archive. More info on the Debian package and mirrors from which
it can be downloaded is available at:
      http://www.linux-debian.de/openoffice/

I am currently running 1.0.1-4 on my machine (Debian Sarge with a 2.4.18
kernel) and it seems to work just fine (although I haven't done any major
projects on it as yet). I did have a few niggling installation problems, but
as that was with an earlier release, these may have been ironed out.

Incidentally, getting the package into the main archive seems to be on
their todo list.

      Regards,
      	      Steph
