[Techtalk] Squid success (repost)

(Repost, I think my mail server ate it.  Naughty mail server).

I had that nagging issue with Squid, where it would seemingly stop
processing all requests, at random.

So I sat and thought and read manuals and weeped like a princess for
weeks over the issue.  

Then I got an idea: recompile the kernel.  And it worked!  I went from
the Debian 2.2 out of box kernel (2.2.19?) to 2.4.18.  Et voila, now it
is working flawlessly.

And at a VERY good time too, because our primary NT firewall/proxy just
died (7 years and more floods than the bible) and the replacement
Win2k/ISA machine (not my choice) isn't ready yet.  Maybe now its
Linux's time to shine here.
