[Techtalk] DNS horror story. Beware the dynamic IP!

I still don't get how the NIC settings were changed. As it's a dynamic IP
account they must have the correct DNS settings for the DSL connection to
work. If they are misconfigured, there should simply be no Internet
connection. I don't get this automatic re-configuring. Unless Internet
Explorer is the key? It has a "automatically detect settings" feature.
I wish I could test this on a Linux box, it's going to bug me. I want to
test it more on Windoze too. I have a static IP at home, no way to test it
there. Victims I mean volunteers anyone?
