Hi again , Keith here in the Depths of the Great Bergen Swamp
First off: The Great Bergen Swamp is fed by Black Creek in Genesee
county in Western NY. It is not in New Jersey...
Secondly: I got a ring on the twisted pair about an hour after I posted
the question. A self-described lurker on the List (also a radio amateur
here in WNY) offered to swap said SCSI drive for a 3.2 GB EIDE.
Something about a PowerMAC for the ex...
I am glad that the SCSI would have played just fine, but I am much more
comfortable with EIDE as I have used them since I got rid of the RLL and
MFM drives in the XT days.
I really never did get rid of them. The paperweight marked is saturated
with 20 MB paperweights. Anyone need a full-sized 5.25" ESDI drive or an
8" 100 KB Floppy drive? I still have some kicking around here in one of
the boxes in storage... (Available free, plus freight, FOB Buffalo, NY)
Thanks again for all of the replies. My new foreign exchange student is
getting the Linux box as that's what her family had at home. So while
Anne-Sophie is learning English from us, we can learn Linux from her. A
fair trade if you ask me!
