[Techtalk] error message

when running ./configure on snort for os x I'm getting this error

checking host system type... configure: error: can not guess host type; 
you must specify one

would anyone on the list happen to know how I would specify the host 
type?

this was my configuration line:

./configure --with-mysql --with-libpcap-includes=/usr/local/include 
--with-libpcap-libraries=/usr/lib/libpcap.A.dylib --enable-flexresp 
--with-openssl --enable-snmp

how/where would I add a host type?
