Another useful trick for being careful with rm commands is to try them with 
ls first. That will get you a list of all the things that are about to get 
nuked. Then, if you like it, you can just press the up-arrow key to 
reconstitute that command line (assuming you're using a modern shell, like 
bash or tcsh), back up to the beginning of the line, replace ls with rm, 
and voila!
