[techtalk] Slightly OT: Web based chat

Anyone know of a good web based chat for Linux servers?

My school's only requirements are:

1) Free or extremely low cost

2) Ability to kick/ban users (Kids here are obnoxious).

I've tried phpChat/phpIRC but I have yet to be able to get it to work.
