Yeah it's the same thing.
I can't make them is all, I've never had to put the ends on an ethernet cable.

OK. In that case a home network could in fact be a handy thing for you - a
linux machine can be set up to forward connections (ip masquerading) between a
private network in your home and the outside world (I believe Windows can too,
but the software isn't free as far as I know). You *will* need a third network
card though - the linux machine needs two, one for the cable modem, one for
the internal network, but networked houses I've lived in have considered it
worth the investment.
