from my experience on different workstations, the numbering of the ethX
device is dependent on the hardware .. how it scans the bus, etc.  my
advic would just be to boot up the machine and determine which PCI slot
will result in which ethX interface and then align the cards as you wish
(to get the correct ethX device lined up with the correct MAC address).
