[Techtalk] Getting around a problem package in debian apt-get dist-upgrade

use dpkg instead of apt, with the force-overwrite option on.
(You will need to know the full path name for the package you are
installing)

i.e. something like this:

dpkg -i --force-overwrite
/var/cache/apt/archives/packagename_0.6-3_i386.deb

(the above is all on one line)
