Have you looked on freshmeat.net? If you don't know about it, it's
basically a database of all sorts of linux and free software. It's
the first place I go when I want to know "is there x for linux?".
If I know what I'm looking for in particular, I use the search
function, otherwise I browse the appindex.

I looked through it a bit, and there's something called dejasearch,
which sounds like what you're looking for, but only does dejanews.
It's in the Web/Tools category of the appindex. You might find
something better.
