It's completely irrelevant from what shell you issue commands, as long as
the particular command is no shell-builtin. Some programs (i.e.
interactive ones) need a terminal line or proper stdin/stdout/stderr and
some need a valid X display to work, but if that's not the case, a program
may just be launched from whereever you like (shell of choice, init
script, cron, at, ...).
