[techtalk] Linux PPTP client + NT Server

Hi, all!

~sigh~ So, I've read everything I can find in mailing list archives,
HOWTO's, etc on the Linux PPTP client and connecting to an NT PPTP server.
However, no matter what I do, I still get the dreaded "LCP: timeout
sending Config-Requests" from pppd when trying to connect. The kernel
(2.2.12) is compiled with GRE, IP tunneling, and PPP support. PPTP Client
is 1.0.2 and pppd is 2.3.10. I've followed the setup from
http://www.moretonbay.com/vpn/setup_pptp_client.html. A Win95 client on
the same subnet as the Linux box can connect to the server just fine.

>From what I've read, this should be almost plug & play, as I can't find
many instances of anyone having problems with this. Has anyone managed
to get this to work? I saw a hint somewhere that I might have to patch
pppd with MS-CHAP support, but the only patch I see is for 2.3.8. Any
ideas? This should be a lot simpler than it's turning out to be and
I know it has to be something silly I'm overlooking...

Kristina
