[prog] Using HTTP to interact with desktop applications

I will confess I have not read the info on the links that were
sent. But from the discription in Doug's last email, it sounds to me
like you are describing a Perl version of what Zope's External Editor
does - http://zope.org/Members/Caseman/ExternalEditor

Click on a little pencil icon and the page content locked on the
server then downloaded to your desktop where a client side 1/2 knows
what editor to launch depending on file extension. (Content type is
used to make the client side 1/2 launch upon clicking the pencil.)
