[prog] PHP and cancel buttons

I have searched on the net multiple time, I have checked all the PHP 
books at my disposal, but I can't find anything that tells me how to get 
a cancel button to work.  Is it possible to do this is PHP or do I need 
to  write it in something like Javascript.

If I do need javascript do I need to write a function or can I call some 
  built in functionality.  I think that all I need to do is go back to 
the previous screen.
