[prog] ncurses forms library

Can anyone clarify for me just how the user's
data is collected by the program when using
the ncurses forms library?
I've got the Ncurses Programming HOWTO by
Pradeep Padala. It's full of good information,
but I can't figure out exactly how to gather
the information the user supplies to the form
so I can verify it and store it in a linked-list.
  Can anyone give me example code or
point me to a souce for example code which
uses the ncurses forms library to gather data,
process the data, and store it for further use?
