On our 'courses' mailing list, we have a basic C course, and a basic
python course.

The programming mailing list is primarily for discussion of programming,
not teaching programming basics. The women who know programming are
typically busy people who don't have much time to rewrite textbooks for
individual people, though at times we do essentially write textbooks on
the courses list.

I strongly suggest that rather than asking a number of questions which
seem to be heading in the direction of 'explain basic programming to
me', you ask the group what resources - textbooks or online - they
recommend for you to learn basic programming from.
