As an IoT Software Engineer – Embedded Linux Development in Quark Design team you will play an integral role in designing and developing software for new Quark silicon devices, ensuring that we develop outstanding products. Your responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
- Conducting or participating in multidisciplinary research and collaborating with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilizing of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software.
- Determining computer user needs, advising hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements, designing and developing compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Responding to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Developing solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgment and formal software process.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Bachelors/Masters in a Computer Science, Electronics or equivalent with strong academic record.
- Good knowledge of embedded system (such as board bring-up, low level device driver, complier tool chain etc. using C or assembler language)
- Excellent knowledge of C programming language
- 3+ experience in Linux device driver development or Linux kernel development
- Exposure to embedded software development life cycle
Desired Experience:
- Knowledge of Intel Architecture and x86 ISA
- Prior experience porting Linux to different hardware platforms
- Experience in any of peripherals like CAN, SPI, UART, I2C, DMA, GPIO, USB, I2S, SDIO, Ethernet or Networking stack
- Prior experience or exposure to any one of the following: Power management optimizations, Industrial I/O core, Codec development - Audio / Video, BIOS upgrade
- Ability to work with hardware schematics
- Familiarity with source code management systems; Git experience is a plus.
- Exposure to Agile software development life cycle
- Yocto Experience
