Description:
The Intel Software and Services Group (SSG) connects Intel to the worldwide software community. SSG strives to bring competitive advantage to Intel platforms by helping independent software vendors, operating system developers, OEMs, channel members and systems integrators deliver exceptional customer value and achieve differentiation on Intel(r) processor technologies. SSG provides global leadership to the software community through its technical expertise, industry enabling activities, and developer products and programs.

The Open Source Technology Center within the Software and Solutions Group is looking for software developers and technical leads to develop new Linux middleware, applications, and user interface technologies. In this position, you will be responsible to develop in the MeeGo.com open source environment on new Intel architectures that span Intel's device platforms, from phones to consumer electronics. Positions require positive interaction with the Linux community to ensure code is developed in an acceptable manner and adopted in upstream community projects as appropriate. In this role you must demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to assume ownership of major areas and establish correct technical direction. Demonstrate flexibility to contribute to multiple areas in a nimble organization. Key projects include development and integration of system level middleware and services between the MeeGo UI and Linux kernel layers, as well as kernel device drivers.

Qualifications:
Degree Requirements:  Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent;  BS + 6 yrs of experience, or MS + 4 years experience in a combination of the following skills:

- Linux kernel device drivers
- Linux user-space system level development
- Linux user-space library development
- C / C++

Knowledge with at least 5 of the following:
- gcc / glibc / GNU binutils / Makefiles
- gdb
- GNU auto-tools (autoconf & automake)
- modprobe / depmod / insmod
- Creating / building RPM Packages, including using rpmlint
- SysV init / Linux startup scripts
- DBUS
- udev
- ALSA & PulseAudio
- gstreamer
- video4linux
- X Windows / GTK+ / Qt / Clutter
- Netlink

Highly desirable Skills:
- Embedded Linux development, debug & test
- Linux streaming media (both audio & video)
- Working with Open Source Software community. Including success with getting code accepted in upstream open source projects.
- Linux Display & Graphics driver development
- OpenGL, EGL, GLES2
