Job Title: Technical Design Engineer
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Job Summary:
As the leading provider of asset management, outage management, customer

sales and marketing. We are looking for an experienced Technical Design
Engineer to join the SPL team in Minneapolis.

The SPL Outage Management System is an integrated and flexible software
system that helps utilities reduce outage restoration time, improve
operational efficiency, provide better service to customers and safeguard
workers and the public.

The SPL Outage Management System supports trouble management, outage
analysis, operations dispatch, crew management, switching management,
reliability reporting and other critical operations functions. In addition
to application software, the SPL Outage Management System integrates
multiple business information systems - GIS, SCADA, CIS, and work
management to name a few - so operators have an accurate and real-time
view of the electrical model's current conditions. It also maintains a
complete and accurate history of all outage events for management and
regulatory reporting.

Essential Job Functions:
* Analysis of business requirements
* Design reviews with Product Architecture
* Writing external and internal design documents
* Design/code walkthroughs with Product Development and QA
* Coding, testing and debugging
* System Integration and performance/scalability testing
* Review of Quality Assurance Test plans
* Work leadership in resolving problems and work assignments
* Customer problem solving

Skills and Qualifications:

* At least two years application design experience.
* At least five years of application development experience.
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Ability to deliver on-time and achieve customer satisfaction
* Multitasking capabilities to enable effective performance on multiple
  projects
* Object Oriented Design - thorough knowledge of objected oriented
  design concepts.
* Working knowledge of C, C++, Java, XML, Perl, Korn Shell, UNIX, Windows
* Previous experience with Linux, Solaris, Aix, Tru64, HP-UX
* J2EE, Web Services, EJB, JMX, JBOSS
* Good troubleshooting skills
* Knowledge of distributed and/or client server application architecture.
* Working knowledge of relational databases
* Proficient in writing SQL for Oracle Operational knowledge of the utility
  vertical industry for distribution
* WebSphere MQ or other Middleware
* multithreaded applications, distributed systems - TCP & UDP sockets,
  messaging systems, web services (SOAP), CORBA, J2EE, XML, XSLT
