Position:  Linux System Administrator

Location:  Santa Monica CA (United States)

Please note:  Must be living in the Los Angeles area and have Green Card or Citizenship status
NO Telecommuting, ons-site only.

Term:  12 month contract, possible conversion to hire

Pay:  $45-$50 per hour

The Linux System Administrator is responsible for managing the web-based applications running in the production, development, QA and staging environments.  He or she will work closely with the software development team and will facilitate and provide support for the software development process as well as recommend solutions to issues that are discovered.  The Linux System Administrator will also recommend changes to the application configurations in the production, development and QA environments to enhance reliability, scalability and ease of use.

 

The Linux System Administrator also serves as a backup system administrator for some subsystems and processes for which Operations is responsible, such as managing the external DNS, domain name registration, basic Linux and Windows OS installation and management, managing FTP/NTP/SSH services, etc.

 

The Linux System Administrator is an integral member of the Operations team, working closely with the members of that team, as well as members of the Engineering and Business Systems teams.The candidate must have at least

-          4 years UNIX system administrative experience of which 2 years with an Internet-based company, with demonstrated experience in supporting software development environments;

-          Programming in shell script, or PERL;

-          Installing and configuring Apache, Tomcat, and Java.

-          1 year relational database experience, preferably Oracle, and working knowledge of relational database schemas, query design, query execution, and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have at least

-          2 years experience supporting Internet applications with at least 1 year of supporting java-based applications, preferably within the ATG Dynamo framework.
