Sun Microsystems' Network Systems Group based in Menlo Park, CA, has a
position available for a Senior Software Engineer who will bring-up
Linux on new hardware and troubleshoot the issues that arise.  A senior
programmer with extensive Linux kernel and configuration experience is
needed as the job requires kernel level programming and experience
including networks/filesystems, performance tuning and/or Open Source.
A software development background with a solid understanding of system
architecture is preferred.

Required  knowledge, skills and education include a minimum of 5 years
of relevant experience; a BS in ME/CS/EE; C or C++ language; and someone
detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills. The
ideal candidate will have experience with Linux device drivers, high
performance servers and high performance x86-based multiprocessor system
architecture and with source management tools such as CVS or subversion.

provided and this is job is not positioned for telecommuting as the
group prefers on site interaction with the hardware and the other staff
