Project Manager Application Development & Support
Our Midwest based Fortune 500 client is a customer-driven retailer with
operations in 23 states. They are currently searching for a Project Manager
to join their information services department.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common industry and technical
journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to
common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or
members of the business community.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical
instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract
and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Development software; Design
software; Project Management software; File management & Relational Database
software, and Contact Management systems. Direct experience with Market Max,
Retech, GenTran, Sterling, Khimetrics, Inforum and Manugistics is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises up to 25 internal and external resources. Carries out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies
and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring,
terminating, promoting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and
directing work; appraising performance and administering salary adjustments;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving
problems.
Summary:
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities and resources of multiple
designated project or support teams focused on the supply chain. Ensures
that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time
frame and budget. Accurately assesses teammate capabilities and is actively
involved in teammate development and career growth. Is able to rotate
between project and support responsibilities across all functional areas of
the business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Develops and/or reviews project scoping documents to determine time line and
funding requirements for various phases of projects.
Directs the development of detailed project plans and staffing requirements
for each phase of a project, and arranges for allotment of available
resources, including external contracted resources.
Confers with project staff to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of
authority.
Directs and coordinates activities of project teammates to ensure service
level agreements are met and that the project progresses on schedule and
within budget.
Directs and coordinates activities of support teams to ensure production
service level agreements are consistently achieved.
Directs and coordinates activities of support teams to deliver minor
application enhancements.
Conducts executive updates for management, clients, or others.
Confers with team members to provide direction and to facilitate positive
issue resolution.
Provides challenging opportunities for learning and creates a climate for
development.
Negotiates and finalizes vendor contracts for consulting engagements and
software purchases. Manages contract revisions between legal and third-party
vendor.
Requires minimal direction and supervision.
Manages and resolves conflicting direction and/or assignments.
Sets direction and manages work effort across business segments and
organizational units.
Leads peers for special projects to improve department policy and procedure.
Provides input (including cost estimates) for Long Range Planning.
May be required to travel 10-20% depending on business activities.
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Seeks out root causes;
Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions;
Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason when dealing
with sensitive topics.
Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to
profitability; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work
with strategic goals.
Prepares project cost estimates; Works and manages financials within
approved budget; Develops and implements cost saving measures; Contributes
to profits and revenue; Appropriately Conserves organizational resources.
Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and
progress; Completes projects on time and within budget; Manages project team
activities. Follows SISDM methodology and I.S. standards.
Complies with Change Management Policy and Procedures; Develops workable
implementation plans; Communicates changes effectively; Builds commitment
and overcomes resistance; Prepares and supports those affected by change;
Monitors transition and evaluates results.
Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development
opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; Shares
expertise with others; Seeks out new technologies that could provide value
to the organization.
Effectively manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds
promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service ;
