Firstly, apologies to all the women on this list. We men just can't
stay away from a fight.

But I'm fed up of trolls, credit snatchers, and nasty people who come
in later on with lots of advice.

The rest of this mail is a direct response to Pavithran, but in
public. Please feel free to ignore this rest of this mail.

Do you read email ? Are you trying to be a troll ? Do you want a flame
fest ? Let me know, and we can have an offline war :)

Welcome to the world of support, or at least to a glimpse of it.
Fellows like you and me who don't have a life and who live online
almost all the time can definitely post messages around all over the
place. Women, by contrast, do have a life, housework, family,
consevative upbringing which doesn't permit everyone to be online all
the time (again, unlike you and me).

I'm glad you actually noticed that, and that you actually write such
stuff. Please read up on "flame bait", "troll", "fallacy" (especially
"red herrings" and "straw man").

I want to meet you in person some day to understand you better. I am
presently left with the feeling that you are a troll, but I may be
wrong. You have clearly been on this list since at least the time I
joined this community, you have ignored insults to women (knowing
fully well that this is a women's list), you have written mails about
"chix wars" in the past, have never responded to my own clarifications
_ever_, and are now preaching about how women should participate more.

What ever gave you the impression that Vidya calls the shots here ?
Didn't you see the various posts about collective decisions, the call
for votes, for volunteers, the proposed mail to Swati Sani, the call
for review of that draft, etc ? I'm certain that you did. All this was
done in public precisely to address accusations (I almost said
"malicious accusations", but then I have not met you yet in person)
such as your self-proclaimed rant.

Since you are able to recall dates and look at mail archives, go ahead
and read the archives of the past few months. Read especially those
status updates which I'd posted.

Pavithran, man to man, all such statements, sentiments and observations
such as yours were really much much needed earlier when supposedly
respectable men on this list were slamming women, while most of the
rest of us men were standing by like wimps.

I don't know how many people there are on this list. I suspect this is
a community of perhaps 20 people or so. If there were more, or at
least some of the known names from India, I'm sure they too would have
responded to you (since hopefully, they would not be on this list out
of voyeuristic interests only).

I joined this community to understand first hand just how much support
close women friends of mine would receive. I've even been advised by a
colleague to simply get out of the Indian community since it's
supposedly not really worth it. Unless I see proof otherwise, I'm
convinced it's nasty persons like you who sweet talk, contribute
nothing concrete at all, and throw accusations all over the place, and
come running up toward the end to show that you have always been
participative, and that you have the best of intentions.

I'm disappointed to see trolls like you who pressurize women rather
than actually supporting them.

Since you are so evidently thirsty for battle, let's take this into
some other territory.
