A couple of points in response to Lisa:

1. It's not totally clear from your use of "you" in your email, so just
clarifying. Vid is reporting the problem from one of her users, presumably in
India. I am the person you directly replied to, and am simply double-checking
on an entirely different (university) network in Australia (and just did also
from a server located in California, which has the same result) purely to help
diagnose the DNS concern.

A bit more on the question of ns2.demandspace.com:
 - on both networks I am testing from, ns2.demandspace.com responds with
  "linuxchix.org" A records
 - on both networks I am testing from, ns2.demandspace.com does NOT respond
  with "india.linuxchix.org" A records

So it's not a question of ns2.demandspace.com refusing to respond to any
request, only to this particular request.

I am obviously not able to check anything else directly about the
india.linuxchix.org website, or change the linuxchix.org or india.linuxchix.org
DNS settings.

2. I'm not totally sure either, but my understanding is that there are two
separate parties involved here:

 - the hosts of the india.linuxchix.org website
 - the administrators of the linuxchix.org zone, who (I think) are the same
  people who administer the linuxchix.org websites and email
