[IndiChix] [RFC] Local Contacts page

Hello,

The following page is an attempt to put together a page for local contacts (nearest geographical 
area of relevance) for LinuxChix India, as suggested by Aneesh Mulye during the BoF at GNUNIFY '08 
in Pune . [1]

The following assumptions have been made for this initial draft:

1. Local contacts are volunteers who could list themselves on the above mentioned page along with 
their email addresses.

2. States of India has been used for the broad geographical boundary to classify the information

3. Local contacts for any significant places like organisations/college campuses/institutions,  with 
potential participation by/into LinuxChix India, can also be included in the list

4. The purpose for having local contacts is to have an  easier way  of contacting a LinuxChix India 
member who could guide newcomers about the group locally by being physically present at a certain 
location. [e.g. from the last discussion,  to have a LC member around to help organise a meet or 
talk about the group at the college in question].

5. There could be  more than 1 local contact for any particular location .

6. It is always preferable for women members of the group to step us as local contact volunteers. 
However, In case there are no LinuxChix India women representatives in any location, men are welcome 
to step up as volunteers. Once a local group of women volunteers have gathered, local 
representative(s) from within this group can be mentored to take up/share responsibilities as the 
local contact.


As always, this idea and the page is an RFC  and would perhaps qualify as the first draft which can 
be accepted, rejected or modified as per consensus. Since Aneesh had proposed this idea, it might 
also be great if he could take a look at #4 above and add/modify to my interpretation of the 
suggestion. :-)

Apologies Aneesh, this proposal was supposed to have been put in place quite sometime back. :(
