Well, testing is an integral part in every stage or aspects of s/w
development so if you are using Debian/Ubuntu and want to get involved
in these two communities, say so. Alternatively does Gnome / Kde
interest you?  then you can join the bug-teams they have for each
project. Almost every project keeps asking for bug  squasher's so its
a starting point for many people.
