Actually, it will, as Travis has just demonstrated. Bash handles any 
instance of .. itself (which makes sense - it's got to, otherwise you'd 
end up with a prompt looking like: 
meredydd at rhodium:~/programming/../web$)

By the way, sorry for not weighing in to answer questions much here, but 
the local residents seem to be doing a decent job of it, and I'm still 
working on L3... :^)
