I am Pat Shanahan, retired from 40 years at a General Motors metal
stamping plant in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.  My job was unrelated to
computer operation, but I helped my fellow supervisors learn to
interface with the computer when it was introduced to the general
workforce in the early '80s.

My first computer was a VIC20 with an audio tape drive for storage.  I
used TOPVIEW before windohs, OS/2 beta 2.0, and then Linux (currently
SuSE 7.3).

I assist senors with their computers, setup, repair, installation and
general questions, promoting OSS.  I maintain three small business
systems; two I have networked (windohs).

I have to a small degree programmed in gwbasic, visual basic, lotus,
excel, REXX/2 and gnu bash.

PYTHON

Python was invented around 1990 byt Guido van Rossum, when he was at
CWI in amsterdam.  Despite the preptiles, it is named after the BBC
comedy series 'Mondy Python's Flying Circus', of which Guido is a fan.
