Hi everyone,
LinuxChix has upgraded their installed version of the Mailman software,
which drives these mailing lists.
Mailman 2.1 includes some major changes, and features you might find
useful.
Most importantly:
- there is a setting called "Avoid duplicate copies of messages?".
People who don't like receiving two copies of a message when someone
hits Group-Reply will like this. If this is set. the list software
checks if you are Cc-ed, and doesn't send you a list copy.
- there are now some "global" settings. For example, if you want to
turn off mail delivery temporarily, you only have to do this on one
linuxchix.org list, and tick "Set Globally" to turn off mail delivery
on the other lists too. Other things you can set globally include
whether or not you receive a password reminder, and the above
duplicates option.
- you can now change your subscribed address without unsubscribing and
re-subscribing - and you can do this globally.
- lists can have topics, to which you can subscribe and unsubscribe
individually. This might be particularly useful on the courses list.
