Hey all!

Hope you had happy holidays/hibernation/new years! Here's to having a
successful and fun ChixBits mag in 2008!

Here are the results of voting on the regular columns (details at the
end of the email):

ChixBits will have 5 regular columns:

1. "Linux advice column" - [volunteer: Beth]
2. "Covers and lists women-tech events"
3. "New linux-based/open source gadgets to watch out for"
4. "What if?" (Short Fiction that explores the themes and spirit of
linuxchix, any genre: SF, historical fiction, memoirs, etc.) -
[volunteer: Michelle]
5. "Fix it yourself - short how to on Linux utilities"

An additional 2 columns will be added (to make a total of 7) if Beth &
Michelle are still willing to volunteer for their columns:
6. "Toot your horn" - [volunteer: Beth]
7. "I wish I had this feature" - [volunteer: Michelle]

The regular columns will be published whenever-ready online. Additional
non-regular columns, features, stories, etc. will be published quarterly
along with the most recent (or popular) regular columns.

Beth had the great suggestion of having some of the columns not
necessarily written by one person. I'll call them 'floating columns',
where different Chix can contribute every edition of the column (so X
writes the column this month, Y writes the column next month, etc.)

So now that we've got the regular columns, it's time to open up
volunteers for the Writing Team, and for those who'd like to contribute
to the regular columns -- in the next email...

Thanks,

rs
