Speaking as the most recently published chixor (see signature --
just got my author copies in the mail today, whee!):

While it's fun to announce new writing and other achievements, and
fun to hear about new writing by other chix, the mailing lists
already work fine for that. On a website of "Writings by Chix",
I would think most visitors would be more interested in browsing
by topic, not necessarily by newness.

I don't see the advantage to a blog format for the Writings page.
All it does is make it difficult to search and increase the chance
that older but still very relevant writing drops off the page so
no one can find out about it.

For a page on Upcoming Events, I could see more point to a
blog format; but even then it seems better to have the entries
ordered by the date of the event, not the date on which they were
posted to the web site.

A blog format would work well for a News page, though, if we
wanted to have one (and if we have enough people authorized to
add to it so it could be kept reasonably up to date).
