Oh, I can only imagine. (:

My son is learning Japanese, and until recently I was learning it
with him. My dusty old brain couldn't keep up with all the rules that
were required, though, so he's currently continuing and I've happily
given up. I've just never been one for rules. I speak two languages
by ear. I couldn't tell you the rules for either one (other than a
select few like the I before E one that just stays with you).

Since I don't do language by rules, I can't make sense of them -
especially when there are exceptions. I feel sorry for anyone who has
to, and I'll bet the only ones who do are students. An English
speaking person probably doesn't give a thought to any rules when
formulating a reply to this. More likely the words just come
tumbling out all by themselves. (:
