I tried the various 'fixes' on the launchpad link you sent me with no luck.
Thank you for them.
I am now considering the *nuclear *option.

If I booted up using the Ubuntu 8.04 LiveCD and then opted for the install
option, will it fdisk my hard drive thereby removing all data (which I can
live with as most of my important stuff is on various file servers)? Or will
it see the installation and just add on and/or replace what is already
there? Or at the very least, keep my /home directories?
