Considering you have a second computer at hand, you could configure this
trouble giving one for serial console. That way you can capture all boot
messages from the serial port (in stead of trying to read it on screen)_
on the other computer in a log (minicom comes to mind, with log file
enabled), which would enable you to carefully check all messages at
ease.
