[Techtalk] Using Evolution and Pine

I am about to install Ubuntu 6.10, and am intending to switch to using
this over the next week. Currently I am using Fedora Core 4.

At present I use Gnus for mail and news. When I am away from home I
leave sshd running, and use Putty to log in to my computer at home,
using Emacs/Gnus to deal with my mail.

I quite like the idea of using Evolution in Ubuntu. Unfortunately
Evolution doesn't have (I think) a text interface, so it would be less
suitable than Gnus, Pine, Mutt etc. to use from a remote terminal.

Does anyone know if any of the text-based e-mail clients, such as the
ones I have mentioned, are suitable to use in conjunction with
Evolution (but not at the same time, of course)? Obviously their mail
file format needs to be the same as Evolution's, and I don't want one
program to screw things up for the other.
