[Techtalk] Printers

I have recently installed SuSe 10.1 on my computer. The install went ok, but I cannot get a printer to work. I tried a Canon BJC 4550 using a parallel port, and a Samsung 1740 and Samsung 2010 using USB ports and nothing works. I installed the proper drivers. The only time the printers even make a noise is when I am restarting my system. Has anyone else had this problem??
