Hi,

I'm kind of desesperate, sinked in this trouble for the last week. I'm using
Libranet for a few time, being an old RedHat user. Now I have an interesting
box with Libranet 2.8 trying to install fontconfig.

With the apt-get install fontconfig command, I got a message that said system
doesn't find xlib.h. I looked for it in the disk and find it in a remote
directory under perl (a long path), but not under X11/. All programs asked for
X11/xlib.h
I even tried to run a simple C program that opens a windows and trace a line to
know if there was any problem with xlib and system gave me the same thing. (I
wrote $gcc x_draw.c -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/local/include -L/usr/local/lib
where is supposed are the libraries located)

Well a little naive I concluded that the problem was in xlib. Doing $dpkg
--status xlib I realize that there is no xlib, but xlibs and libxaw6 and read
that xlib is a deprecated version (for debian 2.2) and my debian 3.0 have to
use xlibs.

So I uninstalled xlibs for installing xlib (I don't know in what I was thinking,
or maybe dreaming) and after almost 16 hours, xlibs was history. Then I tried
to install xlib and the ftp server gave the news that xlib is obsolete. After
that I reinstalled xlibs but kde doesn work. I'm in a gnome session and in a
console is kde being updated.

The big question is what happened and how can I get xlib.h?
Please help.

Thank you in advance
Claudia
