[Techtalk] DVD drive frustrations

Solved!

It's even more simple and noxious than I thought: the dvd drive is seen as 
/dev/hdc, not /dev/cdrom (nor /dev/hdc1, like a normal IDE drive).  A little 
diddle of fstab, and it reads fine.  It's just a plain IDE device, with no 
partitionability.... *sigh*
