Thanks everyone who's responded.... since you both seemed to agree
that the Zaurus SL-5500 is a good bet, that's what I've ended up
getting.  I just got one on eBay for ~$130 US, which isn't too bad.

I was actually thinking about the Zaurus, but my roommate, as well as
another friend, had talked me out of it- they both despised the
built-in keyboard.  But, I'll see how it goes, and if it's really that
bad I'll work something out.
