[Techtalk] nullmailer problems

I just installed Gentoo on my desktop PC. Since I already have a mailserver
in my LAN, I want this PC to simply forward mail that server. I installed
nullmailer 1.00RC7 for this purpose, but I'm having problems getting it to
work. At the end of "emerge nullmailer" the following messages appear:

* To create an initial setup, please do:
* ebuild
/var/db/pkg/net-mail/nullmailer-1.00_rc7-r1/nullmailer-1.00_rc7-r1.ebuild
config
* To start nullmailer at boot you have to enable the /etc/init.d/svscan rc
file
* and create the following links :
* ln -fs /var/nullmailer/service /service/nullmailer

I have no problem creating the link or enabling svscan at boot. I do have
the following problem with the ebuild, though:

# ebuild
/var/db/pkg/net-mail/nullmailer-1.00_rc7-r1/nullmailer-1.00_rc7-r1.ebuild
config
hostname: Unknown host
hostname: Unknown host

Any ideas what hostname it's referring to?

I'm not sure whether this is relevant, but following the directions in the
brief nullmailer howto, I created /usr/local/etc/nullmailer/remotes with the
following single line in it:
192.168.0.254   smtp

I see that when I try to send a message on the desktop PC using mutt, they
appear in /var/nullmailer/queue/, but they aren't getting sent.
