[Techtalk] visual bell

I'm almost certain this has shown up before, but I havne't been able to
track it down. I'd like to use a visual bell and have set:
	set bell-style visible
in my .bash_profile (also tried .bashrc file). Even after rebooting the
machine this doesn't work--the machine still beeps. I can use:
	xset -b or xset b
to turn off and on the beeping.

Any idea why I'm not able to get the visual bell though?

thanks!

emma
