[Techtalk] new system, fonts missing

Hey all:

I recently had a harddrive crash and had to reinstall everything from a
debian rescue CD. Now when I try to start xpdf I get errors about a
missing font:
emmajane at debian:~$ xpdf
LTK Error: Unknown font '-*-helvetica-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*'

I've installed the Microsoft free fonts and corrected my old XF86Config-4
file to point to font directories that exist...but I guess I'm still
missing Helvetica.

Any ideas?
