Rather than running an old, very limited browser I recommend Mozilla
Firebird (formerly Phoenix) (see http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/ )
which should run acceptably on your early Pentium class machines.

I still have a Tosbiba Libretto 20CTA (486-75MHz, 16MB RAM) and Dillo (see
http://www.dillo.org/ ) is the best for that light a system.
