Heya everyone! I just was turned on to this tool today and thought
I'd share the love: x2vnc. See http://www.hubbe.net/~hubbe/x2vnc.html
for the download and documentation.

I'm using it to create a dual monitor-like environment on my desk.
I'm running 1 Win98 machine and 1 Linux machine. I have 2 monitors, 1
keyboard, and 1 mouse. Each computer has a monitor plugged in. The
keyboard and mouse are connected to the Linux machine. Here's a
summary:

  Linux Windows
  - monitor - monitor
  - kbd
  - mouse
  * x2vnc       * VNC Server
                  (as a service)

With x2vnc running on my Linux machine and a VNC server running on my
Windows machine, I can slide my mouse between the two computers.
Keyboard control follows, as well.

The bonus is that because I'm not sending the graphical signals over
the network, the overhead isn't noticeable.

Just thought y'all might find this interesting. I know I love the
setup cause now I can ditch the extra keyboard and mouse on my
desktop :)

Meg
